Husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies.
Ephesians 5:28
How do you view your marriage, or marriage in general? Is it something that can easily be disposed of when things don’t go the way you planned, or is it something that you are willing to keep working on? If your view is that it is disposable, you have fallen prey to what many people in our society think about marriage. The institution of marriage is no longer a treasured commitment or covenant. It has instead become a sort of business relationship. While I get my needs met, everything is great. The relationship works. If you are no longer seeing the results you want, it’s time to move on to something else. That type of relationship is not at all what God had planned for married couples.
When my husband and I were married, we became one in God’s eyes. Spiritually, physically and emotionally one. Whatever affects him, affects me. His successes are mine, his missteps are mine. His heartbreak and joy are mine. Or they should be. If they aren’t, then something is wrong. The same holds true for my husband. He should feel what I feel. Be concerned with what I am concerned with. We need to cherish each other in the truest sense of the word.
Today’s dare.
What need does your spouse have that could meet today? Can you run an errand? Give a back rub or foot massage? Is there housework you could help with? Choose a gesture that says, “I cherish you” and do it with a smile.
At the end of the day, answer these questions:
1. What did you choose to show that you cherish your mate?
2. What did you learn from this experience?
Congratulations! You have completed Day 11! Tomorrow’s dare is Love Lets the Other Win.
