As a homeschooler, I am ALWAYS on the lookout for incredible, new items to supplement our lessons.ย This school year, I have found a great one!
We are studying geography this year and I really wanted some videos that we could use as part of our curriculum. I figured between the internet and our Roku box there had to be something out there that would be a great addition. I started to look for anything I could find and voila! I came across an awesome series that now has become a major part of our geography curriculum.
It’s called Travel with Kids. The premise of the series is that a mom and dad traveled to 35 countries before their two boys came around and then after they were born, they decided to travel with them.ย This is how they describe their show- “In this reality meets documentary series, we journey around the globe meeting locals, learning about history and culture and discovering the wonders of the world, the wonders of nature and the wonders of parenthood (and sometimes wonder.. what were we thinking!?) and face the mishaps and challenges of traveling with two young boys.”
What I love about this show is that it is interesting not only for the children, but also for adults. Now my husband will come home and ask where we traveled to that day. One time the kids said “Paris” and went on to tell him all about the adventures that the family had gone on and what they had learned. Who knew you could take a tour of the sewers in Paris? Not me…and I never plan to! ๐
Travel with Kids has received awards as well. They have won the Telly Awards, The Dove Foundation, iParenting Media Awards, KIDS First!, Wisdom Awards.ย Right now Seasons 1 through 4 can be purchased on DVD or seen on iTunes, Roku Player, Hulu, DVD, Amazon, PBS.
Here’s a quick look at the show:
This is not a sponsored post in any way. My family and I came across this series and I thought I would share it with you.
Happy Travels!
