I’m excited to share my thoughts on a new movie, out on September 28th! The Blind is the true story of Phil and Kay Robertson. Before I dive into this review, I want to confess that while I haven’t watched many episodes of Duck Dynasty, I’ve always known the Robertsons as a God-fearing and loving family. My connection to their story deepened from following their granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, and her inspiring ministry, Live Original.
The Struggles of Phil Robertson
The Blind is a film that’s both challenging and uplifting, much like life itself. It takes us on a journey through the life of Phil Robertson, a man whose struggle with sin is displayed for the world to see. I must admit, it can be hard to watch, not because I want to judge or condemn, but because I recognize our own imperfections in his story. We’ve all stumbled; we’ve all made mistakes. And that’s precisely why this movie resonates so profoundly.
As I watched The Blind, I couldn’t help but imagine Phil and Kay, along with their extended family, sitting together and reliving those difficult moments. It’s a poignant reminder that none of us are immune to the trials and tribulations of life. But what truly sets this story apart is the unwavering presence of God throughout their journey. Even when Phil was not aware of it.
Finding Redemption
Phil’s descent into his darkest moments, hitting rock bottom, and finally finding peace and forgiveness in Jesus is a testament to the incredible power of faith and redemption. It’s a story of transformation that serves as hope for us all. No matter how far we may have strayed or how deep we’ve fallen, there’s always a path back to God’s love and forgiveness.

Being someone who has always watched movies with a director’s eye (a long-ago dream of mine), I had my own hopes for how The Blind would conclude. I hoped for a resolution that would not just wrap up the story but leave a lasting impact. And I can wholeheartedly say that the film exceeded my expectations.
The ending of The Blind is not just about tying up loose ends; it’s about showcasing the transformative power of faith, love, and family. It’s about demonstrating that even in our darkest moments, God is there, waiting for us to turn to Him.
In a world filled with movies that often leave us feeling empty or desensitized, The Blind stands as an example of cinema that offers genuine hope. It’s a story that will stay with you long after the credits roll, leaving you with a renewed sense of faith and the belief that, like Phil Robertson, we can all find our way back to God’s grace.
