Give Kids the World Village- Extreme Village Makeover

If you read my blog regularly, you know that the organization, Give Kids the World Village is dear to my heart. The work they do for children with life-threatening illnesses is so important to not only the children, but the families as well. This week they began work on 88 of the villas which are home base for the children when they visit the village.

With the help of Wyndham Vacation Ownership (WVO), these villas will be transformed in the period of two weeks.  Sound impossible?  Not for the team at Give Kids the World Village! As of January 12th, they have been working non-stop (yes, 24 hours a day!) to create a new experience for the children and families that will come to visit. With the renovation cost of $60,000 for each villa, Give Kids the World can definitely use whatever help you can offer!

Can’t afford to help out financially at this point? If you are local to the area, or have a way of getting materials to them, they are also accepting donations of that kind. This is not a small undertaking. This is not just a simple renovation where they are going to make a few changes and put some nice furnishings in the villas.  This is a massive reno event.  Just check out all the things they are doing to transform these villas!

Phase 2

Exterior

• Repair and Enhance Elevations Replace wood, repair stucco and dryvit
• Landscape
• Paint exteriors update colors
• Stamped concrete porches
• Replace or paint soffit
• New screens

Dining room

• Correct elevation at threshold
• Demo all cabinets and bar area
• Correct area over sink
• Add new lights
• Install new counter tops
• Install new cabinets
• Install new tile on floors and backsplash
• New plumbing and fixtures
• Plantation shutters
• Install new appliances
• Revamp sprinklers, replace heads
• Paint

Living room

• Remove tile?
• Install new tile
• Repair walls and texture
• New paint
• New 6 panel doors
• Add 4 new lights
• Install FF&E and Art
• New ceiling fans
• New outlets and switches

Kid’s room

• Remove carpet and replace
• Demo border and repair walls
• texture as needed
• paint
• New cubes
• Replace hot water heaters
• New paint
• Add lights 4
• Plantation shutters
• New ceiling fan
• All new FF&E
• Remove and replace closet doors with 6 panel swing

Kid’s bathroom

• Demo all except whirlpool (several will have to be replaced as they are made from marcraft composite)
• New tile throughout
• Additional light over shower
• New vanities and cabinets with variable height
• New plumbing
• New grab bars (as needed)
• Install electric mirrors 2
• Remove medicine cabinet and patch
• Texture as needed
• New exhaust fans
• New FF&E (Owner provided)

Hallway

• New doors on laundry and AC closet 6 panel
• Paint
• New appliances in laundry

Parent’s bathroom

• Demo all
• Remove tub and replace with shower
• New vanities and countertops
• New grab bars
• Electric light mirror
• Remove medicine cabinet and repair wall
• Texture as needed
• New plumbing
• Paint
• New tile (non skid floor)

Parents’ bedroom

• Demo Carpet
• Remove mirrored closet doors and replace w 6 panel
• New ff&e
• New paint
• New ceiling fan
• Install plantation shutters
• Install new carpet
• New Art
• FF&E
