Anyone that knows me well, knows how much I love HGTV.ย My husband can never understand how I can watch the same episode over and over. Now, our children watch along with me and often make references to things they have learned on the shows. My favorite show on HGTV is Fixer Upper.
If you haven’t seen it, the show follows a couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines who live and work in Waco, Texas. They help people find homes in need of major renovation. (and I mean MAJOR!) Chip handles the real estate deals and construction work, while Joanna is the designer. This is not just a renovation show in my eyes. This show is about faith and family, particularly theirs and how important it is to them. It is why they work so hard to help other families attain their dream of a place to call home.
I love Joanna’s taste in design. She calls it simple and timeless. I call it farmhouse chic. Maybe my take on it is inspired by the fact that they live in a gorgeous farmhouse! No matter what the houses end up looking like, I always love them. She just has a knack for making a house truly a home.
What I enjoy most about the show and what draws me to it so much is the spirit that exudes from both Joanna and Chip. You see it in the relationship between the two and the way they interact with their children. You can just tell that this is a really nice family that is rooted in faith and love. That’s why I was so happy to come across this wonderful video from Baylor University where both Chip and Joanna studied. It is her testimony of faith and following where God is leading, even when she didn’t know where she would end up.
It is powerful. It is moving. It is real.
I think so many of us can relate to what she says in her testimony. I know I do. When my husband and I decided to follow God’s lead to homeschool our children, we didn’t know how we would. We didn’t know what that would look like, or even if it would be the right thing for our family. It was. Simply because it was what God intended.
Now, watch as Joanna shares her journey with you. Does anything in her story resonate with you? Have you ever heard God speak to you as clearly as Joanna did? Did you follow His lead? What was the result?
I’d love for you to visit me on my Facebook page to discuss more about this video or how God has worked in your life!
